Anna-Marie Larsen

Anna-Marie began her yoga practice when she was 16 years old, and has maintained a consistent practice for the past 5 years. Anna-Marie certified to be a yoga teacher in 2004 at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lennox, Massachusetts and completed a second certification with Hart Lazer of Winnipeg, Manitoba in a blend of ashtanga vinyasa and Iyengar yoga in 2007. Anna-Marie has taught at the University of Waterloo, True Natures, Conestoga College, Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, and local community centres.

Anna-Marie's teaching is a blend of all three of these styles, and is complemented by dry wit, thoughtful instruction and a belief that the work that's done on the mat directly impacts life off the mat.

In her own words

When I practice yoga, I feel like I am doing what I am meant to be doing. Yoga has opened me body, mind and spirit to life. It soothes me, chills me out like nothing else, and makes me lose myself in the moment. It also ticks me off and frustrates me, and sometimes makes me notice of how slowly time can pass. It can take me to places I didn't know I could get to, maybe some places I didn't even know were there. The awareness of the body opening while moving to that place is as much the practice of yoga as being in the posture, and it’s a process that happens on and off the yoga mat. I like the process of taking the body safely into new experience. That process is the work of the practice - practicing the practice.
