Meaghan Johnson

Meaghan was first introduced to Yoga in in 1992 and has had a dedicated practice for the last 8 years. She began teaching yoga in 2002 after completing a 250 hour teacher training in Toronto. She completed a second teacher training with Hart Lazer in 2004 and has been studying with him ever since. She is influenced and supported by the yoga teachings of Ramanand Patel, Dona Farhi. Meaghan also maintains a regular meditation practice and completed a month long silent retreat in the Tibetan tradition in India, and hopes to do more retreats soon!

She has the chance to study with teachers from all over the world, and regularly take classes from other local and Toronto teachers.

Meaghan's enthusiasm and love of both the physical discipline of yoga and the healing properties of meditation come through in her teaching. Her desire to live with an open mind and a loving heart is also clear in her classes. Students find her classes, inviting, challenging and inclusive.

In her own words

Yoga is an organic thing for me, having different meanings at different times in my life. Yoga is my anchor to the earth, but it is also my vehicle to the cosmos. Yoga is what keeps me healthy and sane and grounded, although at times it takes me to places that are hard to deal with and shake me up. Yoga is my physical practice, my emotional practice, but most of all my spiritual practice. Yoga is my form of activism, the way I see I can bring peace into this world, both through my personal practice and through my teaching. Yoga is how I become the change I wish to see in the world. Being given the chance to teach yoga to others, to share this love, and to be part of other people's journey on the path, is the greatest gift this world has offered me. I am deeply filled with gratitude for the practice of Yoga and the life it has afforded me.
